Urdaneta City, Pangasinan – Traditionally seen as a male-dominated field, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) is now witnessing a steady rise of women trainees and professionals who are proving that skills know no gender. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is at the forefront of this change, opening more opportunities for women to excel in technical-vocational fields such as EIM.
At the Provincial Training Center (PTC)-Urdaneta, more young women are enrolling in EIM NC II and NC III programs, challenging stereotypes and showcasing their ability to thrive in hands-on, technical environments. Equipped with determination and guided by expert trainers, these women are mastering skills in wiring installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety systems—competencies that are critical in industries from construction to renewable energy.
For many, the journey into EIM is more than just technical training; it’s also about empowerment and independence. “At first, people doubted if I could handle electrical work, but through TESDA training, I’ve gained confidence and skills that make me feel ready for real industry challenges,” shared one female trainee.
TESDA emphasizes gender equality in TVET, ensuring that women are not only encouraged but also supported through scholarships, modern facilities, and inclusive training environments. This approach aligns with the agency’s mission to provide opportunities for all Filipinos to develop their skills and secure better livelihoods.

Industry partners also recognize the value of having women in EIM. Employers note that women bring a unique perspective, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills that complement technical expertise. This diversity contributes to safer, more efficient workplaces.
As more women pursue careers in EIM, they become role models for future generations, showing that technical fields are open to anyone with passion and perseverance. TESDA continues to champion this movement, proving that skills empowerment is a powerful tool in breaking barriers and building a more inclusive workforce.
